Numerical Values

Name Numerical Values
Description

If a learning algorithm uses numerical values as its example language, it uses a fixed set of attributes with numerical domains to represent the instances of an underlying universe of discourse.

Numerical domains

  • are not necessarily finite and
  • have a natural interpretation, that can be used for calculations by a learning algorithm,
which are the two main differences to nominal attribute-value representations, restricting algorithms to distinguish between different values.
